AUTUMN CONCERTS

The Westbourne Orchestra with Conductor Sam Newgarth MBE LRAM and Leader Rebekah Reeve BA is currently rehearsing for a series of popular classical concerts to be presented in November 2004.

St. Luke's Church, St Luke's Road, Winton, Bournemouth
Saturday 20th November - 7.30 PM
St Ambrose Church,West Cliff Road, Westbourne
Friday 26th November -7.30PM
St Nicholas Church, Wareham Road Corfe Mullen
Saturday 27th November - 7.30 PM

Proceeds after Orchestra expenses will go to the venue host Church Funds

The programme for all three concerts will be: -

Concert Overture The Land of the Mountain and the Flood by Hamish McCunn

Beethoven's Piano Concerto No3 Soloist Christine Taylor and  

Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov with Violin Soloist Rebekah Reeve

 

Admission by programme list obtainable at the door at £5 or £4 concession for students and senior citizens or £10 for family. Souvenir programme also available. The orchestra welcomes new players.

About the Soloists

Christine Taylor, who is the soloist for the Beethoven Piano Concerto No.3 , was born in Bristol where she studied with Norman Jones, one of Tobias Matthay's professors. She is well known locally as a versatile accompanist and says that she has been privileged to play with some fine young talented local players and singers. Barclays House Choir and the vocal quartet "The Cameo Singers" are among her regular commitments. Christine has belonged to the Westbourne Orchestra for over 30 years and performed as soloist and accompanist with us on many occasions.

Violin soloist for Scheherazade is Rebekah Reeve was appointed leader of the Westbourne Orchestra in 1999.

Originally from Somerset, she moved to Christchurch with her husband Bob just prior to joining the orchestra. Rebekah was a junior exhibitioner at the Royal Academy of Music from the ages of 11 to 18 and took a degree in music at the Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Her debut as leader and soloist with the Orchestra was playing Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto.

Rebekah has obtained an instrumental teaching diploma from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (CTABRSM). Currently she teaches violin, keyboard and theory of music from her home in Christchurch on a professional basis. A committed Christian, Rebekah also plays in the Worship Team at Family Church, Christchurch.
