Press Release - 25th February, 2006
Summer 2006 Workshop – 14th July 7.30 PM – 9.45 PM In June 2003 a member of one of our audiences, a Mrs Jane Randall, suggested we organise a workshop for people who would like to play with the orchestra.
The committee of the WOS committee decided to rise to the challenge and in July 2003 we held our first evening Workshop. Much to our delight this turned out to be an enormous success. Some thirteen very young or rusty players registered for the Workshop and appeared to enjoy the experience to such an extent that three became members of the Orchestra. The audience is encouraged to come along a support these brave players for the whole of the evening or just to the concert followed by an American Buffet. Although there is no admission fee the event is supported by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and there is to be a retiring collection all of which will go to this worthy charity. The RNLI is a charity that provides a 24-hour lifesaving service around the UK and Republic of Ireland. The volunteer crews give up their time and comfort to carry out rescues in difficult and often extremely dangerous conditions. If anyone is interested in dusting down that instrument stored in the cupboard and would like to attend the workshop will they please complete a Registration Form and return to Mrs Tricia Davis, telephone 01202- 513971 email: modernmother@mac.com who will be able to provide a Registration Form. Alternatively download a pdf copy here. There is to be a charge of £3 to cover the hire of music and administration expenses. Details: Chairman 01202 551360
